The Cuban-American community in Miami was irritated enough to give a second look to Donald Trump, who quickly reacted by shifting from his earlier tepid support for Obama’s Cuba policy to a promise that he would end relations unless Raul Castro began democratic reforms.
A New York Times-Siena poll, headlined “Cubans Come Home to Trump,” confirmed that all this was enough to add almost 20 percentage points to Trump’s support among Cuban-Americans. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/cuba/article114076713.html NOVEMBER 10, 2016 8:00 AM A Trump attempt to reverse Obama’s Cuba policies could be complicated and costly トランプは選挙戦でオバマ大統領のキューバ政策の破棄を約束したが、実際にはその 実施は困難

The Nato presence ? and the possibility of a disengagement ? has been the talk of Latvia and other Baltic states since the election of Donald Trump, after he set alarm bells ringing during his presidential campaign by appearing to make US support for the Baltics conditional on their spending more on defence.
“He’s the first presidential candidate to question Nato and Nato commitments,” said Ojars Eriks Kalnins, chair of parliament’s foreign affairs committee. “We are facing a great deal of uncertainty. For Latvia, for Europe, we have no idea what to expect in terms of foreign policy.” (略) Nearly everyone in the Baltics is hoping for Mr Trump to change his tune once in office and offer his backing to Nato. Ms Kalniete notes that the Baltic states are like Berlin was in the cold war: a protection line. She added: “Every time the US has disengaged itself historically from eastern Europe and left those states to bicker among themselves, it has ended in disaster. I really hope it doesn’t do that again.”
Some people close to Mr Trump suggest that he will hand Mike Pence, his vice-president, much of the day-to-day responsibility. Mr Pence, who before being elected governor of Indiana served six terms in Congress, has good relations with Mr Ryan, a key relationship given Mr Trump’s strained ties with the House Speaker.
President-elect Donald Trump said in an interview to air on Sunday that certain areas of his promised border wall with Mexico, a key part of his White House campaign platform, could be fence instead. Asked in an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes" whether he would accept a fence instead of a wall, Trump said "for certain areas I would," according to excerpts. "But certain areas, a wall is more appropriate. I'm very good at this, it's called construction, there could be some fencing," Trump said.
*これもまた選挙後の(暴言の)公約の「現実化」のひとつ

Britain and France on Sunday night snubbed a contentious EU emergency meeting to align the bloc’s approach to Donald Trump’s election, exposing rifts in Europe over the US vote. Hailed by diplomats as a chance to “send a signal of what the EU expects” from Mr Trump, the plan fell into disarray after foreign ministers from the bloc’s two main military powers declined to attend the gathering demanded by Berlin and Brussels. ブラッセルとベルリンの提案した緊急外相会議に英仏が不参加で、トランプ次期大統領 へのEU共通の呼びかけが実現しない
(CNN)House Speaker Paul Ryan said Sunday despite Donald Trump's campaign etoric, lawmakers are not prepared to form a deportation force to round-up and deport undocumented immigrants. "We are not planning on erecting a deportation force. Donald Trump's not planning on that," Ryan told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."

While some Republicans might “breathe a sigh of relief” with Mr Priebus’s appointment, others might be worried about Mr Bannon’s continued role in the administration and what that might mean about Mr Trump’s future relationship to the alt-right, said Dennis Goldford, a political-science professor at Iowa’s Drake University.
“Trump’s campaign has unleashed the hounds,” Mr Goldford said. “The question is whether he will leash them back.” (略) Now the question would be whether Mr Trump took the pragmatic route and appointed some more of the “mainstream” choices that had been floated for his cabinet ? or if he went for the fringe candidates instead. “Clearly we are going to be looking at the number of unusual people he picks versus mainstream conservatives,” Mr Sabato said.

Bannon’s support for European far-right parties runs far deeper than his interest in Marion Marechal-Le Pen or the National Front. He brags about his international Breitbart operation as “the platform” for the American alt-right, and has for years been thinking globally, with an affinity for the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP), Alternative for Germany (AfD), and the Party for Freedom Party (PVV) in the Netherlands, all of which have earned glowing coverage on the pages of Breitbart. Angela Merkel, German chancellor, has suffered a political setback by accepting that foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, a candidate from the rival Social Democrat party, should be the country’s next president. Mr Steinmeier is likely to be voted into the largely honorary post with reluctant backing from the chancellor’s conservative CDU/CSU alliance, which has failed to find a suitable candidate.
“The CDU and CSU are in agreement. That is important,” said Horst Seehofer, the CSU leader. The decision will rob Germany of an experienced and respected foreign minister at a time of tension in international politics, with the US set for policy changes after Donald Trump’s election; the UK facing an exit from the EU; and Russia asserting its power on the EU’s eastern flanks.
